Vote above. Making the entire forum private will require you to be logged in to view anything.

Actually, no. It auto logs in at home and at work I usually want to check the gun forum, so I'm signing in there anyhow, lol. At work though I've been spending alot more of my time on calgun.net than anywhere else. Only during my lunch break of course, lol.

I stay logged in in both occasions, lets me instantly see if any new posts since the forums with new are blue. But, I check the forums about every 10 minutes. The number of times Ill see somebody else logged in and then refresh and they're gone without posting makes me sad.

humm, i am on the fence on this one.

i like that we have a forum that is strictly for us, and changing it so that everything is private would not hurt or even change that experience. because really, is the most users on at one time really all that important a stat? we have 15 members, we could all long in at a coordinated time and then we would make the max and then that would be it, done. we would have to recruit more people to make it go higher. ACTUALLY, now that i think about it, making it all private would not solve the user count issue, people who attempt to see the forum would still be counted as guests at the index page.

personally i am curious about the people that do come to the forum and have no idea who the hell we are IRL. i might actually be tempted to go so far as to suggest making ONE spot that guests could post at (and oh god never more than that). just to see what these guests that keep coming here are like and why they keep showing up.

so i guess i would want to run some tests, just out of curiosity, before i say one way or the other.

If I remember right we had something like that and the only thing that ever got posted was spam, so we got rid of it.

now that you mention it, i think i may remember that. however, that was before our "popularity" on Google grew.
